I Want To Save Them

I want to save them, but at what cost?

Myself?

I want to be an anchor that holds them down,

A safe place that they can always run,

A friend that they can always confide in,

I want to be the reason that they keep on going,

Even when the clouds overhead are pitch black,

And everything overwhelms them,

I want to save as many people as I can,

But again, at what cost?

Most likely myself,

I want to be a bright light in people's lives,

And help them as much as I can,

I want to be a reason why they smile,

When everything around them seems bleak,

I'd go through lengths to save them,

Even if it costs my very self
